The Apocgraphy Security Test
Most people don't know
if they are vulnerable to infection by a virus or a hacker until
they are infected.
By taking Apocgraphy's
free email security test you can test if you are vulnerable
to infection before you are infected!
Already
completely protected?
Take
the test!
How does it work?
Simple. You enter your
email address in the test request form
and Apocgraphy will send you the test emails. (See:
privacy)
Each test email will
test a different vulnerability.
For each test you will
be provided an explanation of the test and the risks it represents.
Take
the test!
Is it Safe?
In a word: "yes".
The tests Apocgraphy sends are 100% harmless.
To test you email
security all that needs to happen is that you receive an email
that results in a program of the sender's choosing being run on
your computer.
It is in no way necessary that that program be destructive, the
important thing is that it could have been destructive.
Apocgraphy's tests
simply display a warning message, read some information from your
computer, place a text file containing this information on your
desktop and open this file using Notepad.
This simply demonstrates
that security has been compromised so that you don't have to take
our word for it.

I already run a virus scanner. Why should I be
worried?
Conventional virus
scanners.
Conventional virus
scanners scan for known viruses. This is why they need to be continually
updated. Unfortunately they do not scan for unknown viruses. As
a result once a new virus is released into the wild it must be
detected by the anti-virus company, a signature created for it
and that updated virus database downloaded to your computer.
As a result you have to pay for continual updates. If you don't
you are no longer protected.
Even if you do pay, you are still vulnerable for the whole time
between the release of the virus and the update being downloaded.
What doesn't get caught.
Most virus scanners
just scan attachments. Unfortunately this allows through many
things that could be dangerous to open.
One major source of
security risk is HTML emails. (Also known as email containing
Web content or formatted text.)
HTML can contain many things you don't want in your email such
as:
- Scripts that execute
when you open the email.
- Commands that download
content from the internet when the email is read or previewed.
- Pictures that get
downloaded. Which can leak private information, place cookies
on your computer, or contain offensive material.
- Programs that get
run when the email is read or previewed.
Another source of security
risk are security holes in your email reader.
Security holes in your email reader can be used by virus writers
and hackers when creating new viruses. Unless you keep up with
all the security patches you could be vulnerable.
Apocgraphy's security.
Apocgraphy's security
works on the principle that email should be checked to insure
that it is safe, not checked if it is known to be dangerous.
For example, most people do not want executable code sent to then
via email. Therefore Apocgraphy screens all executable content
regardless as to whether or not it is known to be a virus.
Similarly, most people do not want windows being popped open or
music played or animations run when they open an email.
Allowing such content opens the window to all sorts of security
concerns.
Apocgraphy simply blocks all this content.
Apocgraphy keeps backups
of all email before they are modified.
If there is a particular email that Apocgraphy has made safe
and you later decide you want the original all you have to do
is click on the link provided to read the original unmodified
email.
- Apocgraphy's security
products are 100% compatible with all existing virus scanners.
This means that by using one of Apocgraphy's security products
you are adding a layer of security to your computer. Your existing
virus scanner will continue to scan incoming email just as
it always has.
- No ongoing charges.
You pay a one time purchase price, install, and you are done.
Still not convinced?
Give the test
a try!
It is completely free, there is no obligation, your email address
will be kept strictly confidential
and we will not contact you after the tests are complete.
