are received by Top Dog before being downloaded by your email reading
program for you to read.
Information
Added to email Body:
There are four options you
can choose from which determine what sort of information is added to the
body of your incoming email.
Note: This information is removed by Top Dog from your email when you
reply to a message according to the settings on the Sending
Tab.

If this option is chosen Top Dog will add a Summary Report directly into
the body of your incoming email.
Information
Detail Level.
This box contains a slider
bar that determines the level of detail of the information on the email
contents that gets inserted into the body of your incoming messages.
If you do not want any information added to your incoming messages then
simply slide the slider to the far left or choose the none
option below.
Normally, people leave the slider in the middle somewhere.

Other
Receiving Options
Prompt for Confirmation When Categorizing
email.
If this option is chosen Top
Dog will give you a chance to confirm the category you have chosen, as
well as the actions Top Dog will take based on the category you choose.
Ensure both a Plain Text and
an HTML version of the email.
If this option is chosen then
Top Dog will add a plain text or HTML version of the message body if one
or the other is missing.
email is usually sent with both versions. It is up to your email reader
which version will be displayed.
This option is recommended because it makes the Top Dog reports much more
readable.
Delete report if unread for X days.
This option sets the number
of days that Top Dog will keep the reports it generates.
Delete
messages from Doghouse after X days.
This option sets the number
of days that messages sit in Doghouse
before they are deleted.
To avoid messages building up over time, Top Dog will automatically delete
emails left in Purgatory longer than the time specified here.
If you do not want Top Dog to delete messages from Purgatory, simply set
the time limit to a very large number.
Keep backups of unmodified retrieved
messages for X Days
This option sets the number
of days that Top Dog keeps backups of your incoming messages.
These backups are of the email before Top Dog modifies it in any way.
They are accessible through a link at the top of both Top Dog's summary
report and it's full report on the email.
Backups are stored in raw format as .EML files.
They are located in your backups directory. If you have installed Top
Dog in it's default location the path is:
C:\Program Files\Top Dog\Users\SingleUser\Messages\Backups\
Add information regarding attached
files.
This option will add information
about any file that is sent as an attachment to a message that you receive.
This information includes the type of file, as well as the risk associated
with opening a file of that type. For example: If you were to receive
a file with a .txt extension, Top Dog would tell you that it is a plain
text file and is safe to open. If on the other hand you were to receive
a file with a .shs extension Top Dog would tell you that it is a Shell
scrap file, and that it is very dangerous to open. Note: As a point of
interest, Windows hides the extension of some types of files such as Shell
scrap files even when "show all file extensions" is turned on.
Try naming a file "readme.txt.shs" and you will most likely
see the file as "readme.txt"!
You can click on the File Extensions...
button to look up a file extension, or to view or edit the list of 7000+
file extensions and their meanings.
