The Subject Lines Tab allows
you to tell Top Dog how to treat email with known subject lines.
Approved Subject Lines
Top Dog keeps a list of subject
lines that are whitelisted
(pre-approved).
If someone send you an email with a subject line that is whitelisted
then that email is always allowed through.
Add
subject lines of email I send to list of Approved Subject Lines.
With this option, you can add
the subject line from your outgoing mail to a list of approved subject
lines.
The purpose of this is to avoid screening a message that is a reply to
a message that you have sent out.
So for example, if you send a message to CustomerSupport@Foo.com
with the subject line "Please help me",
and Susan@Foo.com replies to your request
with a message entitled "Re:Please help me",
you would be assured of receiving her reply.
To get the most out of this
functionality, it is generally a good idea to send messages with descriptive
subject lines.
So, instead of sending a message with the subject line "hi",
it would be better to use the subject line "hi
Bob".
Subject lines in this list
can be set to expire (be deleted) after a number of days of your choice.
This avoids the need to manually edit this list because it has gotten
too large.
Normally, you would set the expiry time to be the maximum number of days
you would expect to wait before receiving a reply to a message you sent.
Edit List of Approved Subject Lines...
You
can manually add, edit or delete items from this list using this Button
As with all lists, you can
also specify wildcards
in your list of subject lines.
Note: Top Dog ignores
any "re:" or "fwd:" that may appear at the beginning
of the subject line of incoming messages.
Banned Subject Lines.
Top Dog also keeps a list
of blacklisted
subject lines that you never want to receive.
When you categorize and email as commercial spam Top Dog automatically
blacklists the subject line.
This way if you receive spam with the same subject line in the future
Top Dog will know that you are not interested in reading it.
Action To Take.
Use this option to tell Top
Dog what you would like to happen when you receive an email with a banned
subject line.
The recommend action is to send the email to the Doghouse
since this will give you a chance to change your mind later.
Email in the Doghouse
will be deleted after the number of days specified on the receiving
tab.

Lines...
