Top Dog

The Security Tab controls how Top Dog deals with security threats such as suspicious attachments and scripts.


Security Level.

This slider determines how strict Top Dog will be in it's security measures.
The further to the right you slide the slider the more security checks Top Dog performs.

Most people can have the slider set to high without being inconvenienced by security measures.
If you want to be really safe and are not interested in receiving attachments or formatted email then you can slide the slider to extreme.
In the extreme position Top Dog will only let plain text email through.
This will effectively eliminate the possibility of any security or privacy hazards.

If you click on this button you will be given a list of security rules that Top Dog will enforce.
You can click on the individual checkmarks to enable or disable individual rules.
Top Dog will always performs certain other checks that are blatant attempts to circumvent email security.


View File Type Information...

Click on this button to get a list of file extensions along with their meanings and the danger level associated with them.
You can add to or modify this list according to your own preferences.
Top Dog comes with a list of thousands of file extensions and their related information.


Known Mail Programs...

Click on this button for a list of programs that have attempted to send or receive email in the past.
You can also use this dialog to tell Top Dog if you would like to allow these programs to send and receive email.
Some viruses and other malware use scripting to send email using existing email programs.
You can block this by only allowing the email program to send from the foreground.

You can also tell Top Dog if there is are any email programs that you do not want it to intercept and process.


Privacy Protection.

Check this option to have Top Dog protect you against possible privacy leaks by eliminating the downloading of content when an email is opened or previewed.
This option is highly recommended as it will dramatically reduce the amount of spam you will receive as well as make you more secure.
Email from whitelisted persons are exempt from privacy protections.
