sans-serif">The SMTP Client tab allows you to control the way Top Dog acts when making SMTP connections.</font></b></p> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" color="red">Most users should never need to concern themselves with, or change the settings on this tab.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">The SMTP client tab controls the way Top Dog connects to your remote server to send outgoing mail.<br> SMTP is the language that is used to send messages.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Your email reading program connects to Top Dog to send messages.<br> Top Dog in turn, connects to your remote server to send the message using the settings on this tab.</font></p> <hr> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><br> <b><a name="SmtpClientActiveCheckBox"></a>Client Active (Send outgoing mail)</b></font></p> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">This option turns the SMTP client on and off.<br> Unchecking this option will result in no mail being sent.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><br> <b><a name="SmtpClientOptionsGroupBox"></a><a name="SmtpSendAtStartCheckBox"></a>Send Mail at Startup.</b></font></p> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">If this option is set then Top Dog will attempt to send any pending mail as soon as it is started.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><br> <b><a name="SmtpClientTimeoutEdit"></a>Time out after X Seconds Waiting For Response.</b></font></p> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">If the Top Dog client is waiting for a response from the server for longer than the value set here Top Dog will drop the connection.<br> Normally, if you are running the client and the server on the same machine this should not be a problem.</font></p> <p></p> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><br> <b><a name="FailedMessagesGroupBox"></a><a name="RetrySmtpSendEdit"></a>Retry failed messages every X minutes.</b></font></p> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Use this option to set the frequency with which Top Dog will retry failed messages.<br> Messages may fail to be sent due to problems with your connection to the SMTP server.<br> This option is only relevant if <a href="../SendingTabFrame.htm#HoldMailCheckBox" target="_self">Enable extended mail sending options</a> option is turned on.<br> Otherwise Top Dog will do it's modifications on the fly and any errors will be reported directly to your email program.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><br> <b><a name="MaxSMTPFailuresMaskEdit"></a>Send failure warning after X failures.</b></font></p> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">If an email cannot be sent, Top Dog places a warning message in your mailbox notifying you of the failure and the reason for the failure.<br> Use this option to set the number of times an email should fail to be sent before a failure warning is issued.<br> This option is also only relevant if <a href="../SendingTabFrame.htm#HoldMailCheckBox" target="_self">Enable extended mail sending options</a> option is turned on.<br> Otherwise Top Dog will do it's modifications on the fly and any errors will be reported directly to your email program.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><br> <b><a name="SmtpMaxRetrysMaskEdit"></a>Permanently fail messages after X Failures.</b></font></p> <p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">After the number of retries set here Top Dog will bounce the email back to your inbox.<br> This option is also only relevant if <a href="../SendingTabFrame.htm#HoldMailCheckBox" target="_self">Enable extended mail sending options</a> option is turned on.<br> Otherwise Top Dog will do it's modifications on
