This page provides details
on some lesser used functions in ShoqBox Buddy.
If you have not already done so, please read the Basic
Usage first.
The basic problem is that it
is not enough to simply add files to your ShoqBox using Windows explorer.
There is a file called MyDb in your ShoqBox which must be updated in order
for ShoqBox to be aware of the files.
ShoqBox Buddy maintains this database for you.
Connecting the ShoqBox
Connect your ShoqBox to your
computer using the USB cord that comes with it.
Instructions are included in the ShoqBox package.
Once connected, your ShoqBox
should appear as a drive on your computer.
ShoqBox Buddy will automatically scan to detect the drive that represents
your ShoqBox.
Note: If you are connecting to your ShoqBox over a network you can map
a network drive to your ShoqBox root folder ("_system").
Important:
If you manually add files to your ShoqBox using Windows Explorer, all
audio files must be placed in the folder "E:\_system\media\audio"
(where "E" is the drive letter where your ShoqBox is connected).
i.e. You cannot create sub-directories.
i.e. No folders are allowed inside the audio folder.
You can manually change the
location of the audio directory where ShoqBox Buddy will look using the
"Audio Directory" edit box at the bottom of the screen.
Play Lists
Playlists can be created and
manipulated by dragging and dropping songs from the song list on the left
to the playlist panel on the right as explained on the Basic
Usage page.
You can also import playlists
created in other programs by dragging and dropping M3U playlists onto
ShoqBox Buddy.
ShoqBox Buddy is not real particular as to the format of the M3U files.
It simply searches for the names of MP3 and WMA files and adds these to
the playlist.
Rebuild Database
This button will completely
delete and rebuild the database from scratch.
You should use this button if the database has become corrupted.
You can tell that the database is corrupted if your ShoqBox shows files
that are not there or doesn't show songs that are there.
If you have created playlists by dragging and dropping files you will
loose these playlists as they only exist in the database that will be
erased and recreated.
