How
do I set up my e-mail program to download mail?
Please see: Setup for instructions.
Why is ZoneAlarm complaining?
HotApoc acts as your own personal mail server.
This means that HotApoc has to open a listening port to accept connections
from your e-mail program.
If you have ZoneAlarm or some other personal firewall installed,
it will prompt you as to weather or not you want to allow HotApoc
to do this.
If you have the "Do not accept connections from other computers"
options checked (default) then no outside computers will be able
to access your computer.
Why does my e-mail program
keep saying it "can't connect" or "there is no response
from my server"?
If you get an error like this:
The connection to the
server has failed. Account: 'Hotmail', Server: 'LocalHost', Protocol:
POP3, Port: 11099, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error
Number: 0x800CCC0E
The most likely cause
of this problem is that HotApoc is not running.
To check if HotApoc is running look for an icon that looks like
this: in
your system tray.
If HotApoc is running then check that the ports it is using are
the same as in your account information.
Details of how to do this can be found in the Setup
section.
If the ports are
correct, you may have entered the wrong user name or password in
your account information. Make sure this information is the same
as when you login to Hotmail
with your browser. Details of how to enter your user name and password
in your account information can be found in the Setup
section.
How do I close HotApoc?
By default HotApoc closes to your System Tray (bottom right hand
corner of your screen on the task bar next to your clock).
To close HotApoc right click on the icon and choose "Exit HotApoc".
If you want HotApoc to exit when you close the window, right click
on the icon and choose "Close to Tray" to uncheck this
option.
How do I keep HotApoc
from starting
automatically?
By default HotApoc starts automatically every time you log onto
your computer.
To avoid this right click on the icon in your system tray (bottom
right hand corner of your screen on the task bar next to your clock)
and uncheck the "Auto Start" option.
